We always celebrate Thanksgiving the weekend before the actual day because Kelly and Dave usually have to work the actual day. This year they were actually off for the holiday but we celebrated early again because Troy, Julie and the kids were able to make it up here for a short weekend trip. We’ve never had them here to celebrate Thanksgiving so it was an extra special weekend. Kelly and Dave actually had to work the weekend so it was a little crazy but we made it work. The kids had a great time playing with their cousins.
Grandma had fun making placemats with the kids for dinner.
Then we had a great dinner before Kelly and Dave left for work. One tradition that I like that we have done is making new side dishes each year. We never have the same dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas. We always have Turkey on Thanksgiving and Prime Rib on Christmas but everything else is different. It makes for a fun and different dinner each year except when the recipe is a bust… which has happened on occasion.
