Getting back in the groove of things

As many of you know I moved into my new house the second weekend of November and then Kelly went back to work, after being off for six months with Karly, the week of Thanksgiving. This meant that I would start watching the kids again at night and on the weekend while she and Dave worked.   With all of the holidays in November and December and Kelly taking some vacation time at Christmas the schedule wasn’t as consistent from week to week.   That all changed in January up until that time I kind of flew by the seat of my pants when I had the kids and was having a very difficult time.

Everyone that knows me at all knows that I love a schedule and try to stick to one as much as possible.    We only have a small window of time from the time Kelly and Dave leave for work and the time the kids need to be in bed.  During that small window of time there is a lot to do. We all need dinner, the kitchen needs to be cleaned up from dinner, toys need to be picked up, Thomas’ lunch needs to be packed, all the kids need baths, and bedtime stories need to be read and as well as the nightly call to Dave and Kelly so the kids can say good night.   So, keeping with a schedule is the only way it all gets done.  The problem was I didn’t have a schedule and was having a difficult time coming up with one.  I wasn’t used to having to have the kids ready to go in the morning. In the past I had the kids dressed and sometimes a small breakfast and then when Kelly got there to pick them up she combed their hair and brushed their teeth and then it was off to day care and there was only two of them.  Now there are three. Thomas and Noelle both need to be ready for school and Karly needs to be ready to go to day care as soon as Kelly and Dave get here in order to have Thomas to school on time.  I also need to be able to get myself ready for work. Needless to say the first few weeks were very difficult.  However, I’m happy to report that we are back in the groove! It may have taken a little longer than what I would have liked but we are finally there and I ‘m proud to say that Thomas and Noelle have made it to school on time and I have made it to work earlier than I was able to in the past.

On our first weekend together Noelle and I did our traditional baking and Karly sat and looked cute.  With Grandma’s help we even made it to church! Yea for us and yea for a perfect schedule.
