So far this year hasn’t started out so great but it’s bound to get better.

001

This year hasn’t been the happiest of New Years for me. While Thomas and I were in Monterey, I had Indy staying at my Dad’s house.  Somehow when we was coming home she got out. My family was kind enough not to tell me until I got home so it wouldn’t ruin my trip.  The night she went missing everyone went looking and hung signs up around the neighborhood. Since I got home I  think we have hung 150 signs, we put an ad in the paper, and ad on Craigslist.  We’ve been to the shelters and to the Vet’s in the area but still nothing.  We had a lead on Sunday from the owner of the convenience store down the street.  He said that one of his very good customers had brought her in and said that she was following him.  He bought some food for her and said that he was going to call the number on her tag but that was last Friday and I still haven’t heard from him.  She has a tag with my phone number and address, her license and a tag that says that she is mirco chipped so  at this point there is no excuse for him not to have called. My family, friends and I have spend hours driving the neighborhoods l looking for her but still nothing.  That is not yet….

Indy’s has been a great companion. There are so many things that I love about her.

  • I loved that  she greeted me everyday on the driveway when I came home from work, as happy as ever to see him.  Sometimes she would be so excited that she would “honk”.
  • I loved that she would follow me from one room to the next and would lay by my feet until we moved on.
  • I loved that she loved riding in the car and going places with me.  She knew when it was Sunday and when I was getting ready to go to my Dad’s house and she would run laps around the house jumping from one couch to the other in excitement.
  • I loved that when I said we were going to McDonalds that she could come along and she knew she was getting a burger out of the deal to.
  • I loved that she chased the lawnmower around the yard as I would mow.
  • I loved watching her chasing the kids rubber balls around the backyard.
  • I loved that every night she would come and sleep in my bed.

Kelly always made fun of my obsession with her eating and it was true.  Indy was a lot like me and was a very picky eater and what she would eat one week she wouldn’t eat the next.  I knew it was a behavior and I really didn’t care.  I bought into it.  I enjoyed finding new things for her and she loved Saturday mornings when I made scrambled eggs because she knew she was getting some to. Taking care of Indy was the one thing that I knew I was doing right and I loved it!!  I loved having her companionship. It’s only been 9 days.. you always hear about these dogs that find their owners years after they going missing. Who knows maybe that will happen.

As I said, things are bound to get better.  I have a lot to look forward to in 2010.  In February I will turn 35 and I’m going on a cruise with my Dad, Kelly and Dave.  In June I will have a new nephew or niece and in September I’m spending a week in San Diego babysitting Tyler.  I’m sure there will be many weekend vacations, a camping trip, a few parties, trips the zoo and lots of fun to be had with my family and friends.  Although right now isn’t the happiest of times there are many coming my way!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about Indy missing. Hopefully you'll be reunited really soon. Cute, cute pictures of your Christmas with your family--the kids are getting SO big. So, who's having a baby this year? That's exciting. I love reading your posts Michele--keep 'em coming!
